.020" Deep Etch
This SF logo is etched .020" deep into heat treated tool steel. The tool steel is heat treated to 58 - 60 Rockwell "C" scale.
Standard Electro Chemical Etching methods could not achieve the required depth while maintaining a crisp sharp image. Standard engraving methods could not maintain the sharp points within this logo. Vibropeen These 1 1/4" diameter heat treated Wrist Pins are vibropeened with 1/16" characters. Parts are heat treated to a 40-45 Rockwell "C". Using a vibrating stylus on heat treated parts can pose some difficulty. However Universal Metal Marking has developed a close tolerance CNC vibro peen system, allowing for clear, crisp, legible characters even in these difficult conditions.
